PPA's Restart Plan
Patriot Family,

As you know, Covid-19 has resulted in many new challenges for families in Ohio.  It has completely changed how we now live our daily lives and will continue to impact us for the future.  Next school year will not be the same as it has been in the past for students, teachers, or families.  We are committed to offering the best education possible while doing all we can reasonably do to protect our students and staff from Covid-19.

We will be enacting many changes for next school year to better protect everyone from the risk of Covid-19, but these changes will also help better ensure the safety of students and staff due to other illnesses as well.

Health/Safety Procedures:
  • Parents/Guardians will be required to perform a health assessment and temperature check before sending their child to school.
  • Students, staff, and visitors will be temperature checked upon arrival.  Anyone with a temperature of 100? or higher will be required to leave the building.
  • Face masks or face shields will be required for all students, staff, and visitors.
  • Hand washing practices will be emphasized and required throughout the day.
  • Antibacterial dispensers will be located in each classroom for use throughout the day.
  • All drinking fountains will have a touchless bottle filling station and offer a touchless drinking fountain option.
  • Social distancing guidelines will be followed as much as possible.
  • Frequent disinfecting procedures will be implemented.

Educational Options:

Hybrid Learning (K-12th) - Students will be placed into two different cohorts (Maroon and Gold) and will only attend school for in-person instruction 2 days a week and work remotely 3 days per week.  All students from the same household will be placed into the same cohort.

100% Online Learning (K-12th) - Students will complete all of their work through Edmentum’s online program with direction from PPA staff.  Parents will have many additional responsibilities to support a student that is receiving online instruction without the direct support of their teacher.  For more information about the K-5 Online Learning click here .

100% Classroom Learning (K-5th only) SUSPENDED- Students will attend school for in-person instruction following a regular school schedule of 5 days per week with a maximum class size of 22 students per classroom.  Note: Due to guidance from Columbus Public Health, this option has been suspended until further notice.

Parent Selection of Learning Model - Parents will be emailed one selection form per family on Tuesday, July 21st to the email address of the primary contact in Parent Portal.  The form must be completed by Friday, July 24th.  Due to the implications on curriculum planning and staffing, it is important for families to understand the selection made for each student will remain in effect for the entire 1st semester of the school year.  Parent selections are subject to change based on availability of an option, student performance, updated recommendations from the state, etc.

Parents of IEP/504/ELL Students - If your child receives accommodations or additional instructional support per their IEP/504/ELL identification, classroom learning would provide the most in-person additional support.  Hybrid learning may require students to attend school on Wednesday or other remote learning days.  Online learning is not a recommended model for students receiving additional services.

It is important to understand that guidance from the Governor’s office and the Ohio Department of Education is ever changing due to Franklin county’s alert level.  Additional safety procedures may be implemented, learning models may be modified/removed, or schools may be required to close.  If this were to occur, students in the hybrid or 100% classroom learning model would move to a 100% remote learning model facilitated by their teacher(s).  It would be very similar to the remote learning hybrid students receive when at home.
