Dear Parents and Students,
I hope this message find you and your family well!
Following Governor Mike DeWine’s announcement on Monday, April 27th mandating schools continue distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association followed with the canceling of all Spring sports activities. Emphasizing the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, officials, and fans as our top priority. With the ongoing threat of COVID-19, we must try to ensure that we do not contribute to the spread of this virus. Our athletic department will continue to monitor COVID-19 guidelines and will update you throughout the process, as it relates to sports activities in the future.
I am saddened for our student-athletes who have seen their season or high school athletic careers end so abruptly. I know the impact and role high school athletics play in the lives of our young people, and we will continue to work towards the betterment of our programs. We know this is a trying time for all of us, but the health and safety of all is of utmost importance.
To all our senior student-athletes, we thank you for dedicating your time and efforts to Patriot Prep, your coaches, and your teammates. Cherish the memories you have made and embrace all that the future holds for you. While I am saddened that you were unable to compete, we could not be prouder to have been represented by such hard-working student-athletes.
Our athletic department is eager to reconvene all sports in the 2020-21 school year. However, per the Ohio Department of Health, the building is closed until June 30, 2020. In the meantime, I strongly encourage everyone to continue adhering to the recommendations of the CDC, Governor Mike DeWine, and our local health departments during this period. Please remember to practice social distancing, frequently wash your hands, and avoid touching your face.
