Athletics

Dear Student Athletes and Parents:

As the summer move on, it’s time to start planning for the upcoming new school year. Since I joined the Patriot Preparatory Academy (PPA) Family in May, it has been a whirlwind of transitional activity here in the athletic department. I really look forward to starting my first official year as the Patriot Preparatory Academy Athletic Director, and look forward to contributing to a successful school year for your family. I will be focused and committed to providing a level playing field for all teams, and tapping into the resources of our alumni and corporate neighbors.

I deeply believe that our athletes should be “student-athletes”, versus “athlete-students”. This means that their responsibility as a student comes before the privilege of being a PPA athlete. It is my deep belief that we must promote and stress high expectations academically as well as behaviorally to our PPA student-athletes. Colleges/University coaches want “student-athletes”.

Having 12-years of successful coaching experience at the high and middle-school level, I learned that the profession of coaching is a profession of teaching. In addition to teaching the mental and physical dimensions of a sport, coaches through words and example, also strive to build the character of athletes by teaching them life-skills such as…being trust-worthy, respectful of others, responsible and accountable for their actions, fair, caring for others and good citizens. That being said, our coaches will try to win every game and will put forth their best effort.

I recognize we have some tremendous student-athletes in PPA in all of our sports, all striving to become greater on and off the field. I invite you to join us in celebrating our student-athletes throughout the year and join us at some of our athletic events. While you are at it, bring a friend…..or three. Hope to see you in the stands or on the field!

GO EAGLES!

Per state law, all Patriot Preparatory Academy athletes are required to have an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) 2017-2018 Pre-participation Physical Evaluation form completed and signed by a physician BEFORE they can try out, practice or play for a team. Physicals are good for 12 months. Students will not be permitted to try out for Fall sports without a physical form.
